The city of Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates, is developing quickly and with a high cash flow, they’re able to implement improvements in their healthcare system that other countries can only dream of. Dubai’s Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) has announced that it will be upgrading the telecommunications infrastructure of the more than 20 health centres and five hospitals under their purview.

  • A central contact centre that serves a workforce of over 5,000 employees will be established.
  • Mobility and wireless solutions will allow healthcare providers to communicate across locations and on the move.
  • Videoconferencing will facilitate communications.
  • Teleconferencing technology will make it possible to create home-based jobs using IP.

Nidal Abou-Ltaif, managing director for Avaya Middle East, the company which makes telecommunication systems:

Healthcare is an information intensive field, which requires a communications infrastructure of the highest standard. Such an infrastructure could literally make the difference between life and death.
